Our guest is Patrick Van Ommeslaeghe, one of the most talented Belgian designers you have probably never heard of. We speak about his career arc, from working on the first three Martin Margiela shows as as student, to assisting Josephus Thimister at Balenciaga, to building out the womenswear at Jil Sander with Raf Simons and helping J.W. Anderson get Loewe off the ground, to the short but brilliant life of his own brand, his unlikely friendship with Malcolm McLaren. He also tells us why Jil Sander was the best designer he worked with and what made her special, why he quit the fashion rat race, and why the current fashion system is broken.
