Visited Sven Elverfelds "Aqua" in Wolfsburg, GER yesterday, rated 3 michelin stars and ranked 22/50 of world's best restaurants.

Was a good evening but I was somehow lacking innovation. I've tested several good restaurants in Germany and there are certainly better ones than this, on top of it Klaus Erfort from Saarbrucken. However, here are some impressions of my favorite dishes:

^ The first dish looks beautiful.

Has anyone on here been to Barcelona recently? I'll visit Hisop and Gelonch during my stay, and the plan is to also visit Tapas 24, if it's worth standing in line for? If not, any suggestions for where I should go instead? Preferably some place in the same price range as the above named ones

I had an excellent time at Paco Meralgo, and also check out El Quim de La Boqueria. Also, if you like ham, make sure to stop by Jamonisimo.

            Thanks for the tips guys!

Will definitely check out Jamonisimo, as I'm a big fan of Spanish ham.

Re: Tapas 24, we did not stand in line (there was none), but we only went for breakfast. Several times. And I'd definitely recommend. Mmmm... botifarra, chorizo, eggs, potatoes, coffee....

And I concur with cinc sentits, wonderful meal.

I also had a good time at Quimet & Quimet, a casual (no seats, iirc) tapas place where most of the ingredients come from high-quality, spanish, canned goods. The results were truly mouth-watering. And lots of interesting alcohol options.

Edit: Oh, and Jamonisimo? God yes!

Rolled my first sushi the other day. Didn't realize how much fun it is. Any tips, recs, links for further practice?

Faust, if you like Japanese food, get the books Kansha and Washoku by Elizabeth Andoh. They cover sushi basics such as getting the rice perfect and very detailed instructions on how to make the rolls as well as a plethora of other traditional japanese cuisine. I can not recommend theese books enough I've made almost every single recipe in them and all of them have been fantastic!

^agree with the above. Not to mention that Kansha celebrates vegetarian/vegan Japanese cuisine so it's a win/win ;)

^Indeed! While I am not vegan I can really appreciate good vegan food and the recipes in Kansha are some of the best I've tried!

My favourite homemade sushi is handrolled sushi, temaki. It's fresh, easy to make, and fun to eat with friends. Also, it's great for vegetarians as well as you get to choose your own fillings.

Mofiya, looks really nice. I just came home from Saarbrucken literally an hour ago, and I somehow had totally forgotten about Erforts restaurant,
I ate local things all week instead (mostly at Zum Stiefel btw, reasonable place for local german cousine).
I do not recognise the vessel,
but the eyes seem so familiar

^ that was an incredible mistake (no disrespect to local food). Should've tried Hashimoto as well, amazing restaurant that produces it's veggies and soy sauce on it's own :-)
