I am very curious to see Diane Pernet as well....I never know what to think of her, although I always appreciate her coverage of new designers. [:^)]

Re: PORTRAITS OF PAST REUNION?!!!!!!!

please dont tempt me, it might be the first panel discussion throw down in met history. god, that guy makes my blood boil. from today, and i might have to start a Sart comments thread.

I love the fact that I have been able to use some of the "real people"
I have met while doing this blog for recent advertising jobs I have
shot lately.

This is Julie, you might recognize her from the Absolut ad to your left.

Julie
doesn't have a huge or expensive wardrobe. Most of her items would be
in the price range of the average reader of this blog and I bet a very
large percentage of her wardrobe is vintage or second-hand pieces.

What Julie does very well is find the right, dramatic pieces that really pull the whole look together.

The
look above is not about any designer items but all about her great use
of color(the beret is perfect) and the silhouette that she creates with
those wide-legged jeans. Julie is actually very tiny, maybe 5'1" but
she creates a very long line with those jeans, doesn't she?

These are the kind of images and inspiration that I am most proud of posting on The Sartorialist

You've captured my favorite moment, that dark blue of the
evening sky. The contrast between the sharp focus on her and the soft
focus of her surroundings does look like set lighting, but it also
reminds me of some portrait paintings I've just seen, in which the
effect is to lead the eye to the face. It also makes me think some 18th
century Japanese paintings I just saw, where the details of the fabrics
and the graceful curve of the pose are as important as the whole.
Such an arresting, magical image!

yeah, that was possibly the most sycophantic set of comments ever, and it's predictable that they erupted after a very "pretty" picture.

On the other hand, did you notice the comments under his first New Delhi shot--"World Class Style from New Delhi, India"-- which resulted in an equally predictable outcry of political correctness? He didn't edit out the "negative" stuff there....

The last thing I want to do on this trip to India is water-down my eye and take a lot of touristy "exotic" pictures.

I'm sure I will take some pictures of "great color" blah, blah but I am really happy that so far I have found looks that I would shoot whether I was in NYC or Milan or anywhere.

This young lady , for example, is as cool as any young lady I have ever met in Manhattan.

The real genius behind this look is that she is very petite, (maybe) 5' 2" and yet her long dress actually real lengthens her entire frame. The sleevelessness is a huge factor in pulling this off.
