why is it an ideal to have your work not evoke someone else's? you're probably going to say something about originality. originality is an ideal, never a reality.

i think comparisons are a good thing simply for providing a point of discussion. and i enjoy the comparison to jeff wall because it usually comes from people thinking my photos are staged. they are not.

not to mention the obviously staged, large format aspect of Wall's work is its most critical feature.

yeah, you're right. the originality thing. and it is a ideally a real thing. see what i did there. anyway, it's more than that, but in this case your photos look almost exactly like a photo that is very, very well-known and i guess liked. not by me, but some people do. Let's see...What if you said you were showing your new movie poster for the new movie you made - called "Pulp Story" and the movie poster was the exact same poster as "Pulp Fiction" only the word fiction was replaced with story and Uma was replaced with any other actress? And someone said "Hey! That looks like the Pulp Fiction poster!" and you said "Well, the film itself, to those who have seen it say it is a lot like Pulp Fiction...but we Improvised!" but don't mind me, I think Jeff Wall is shit so it doesn't matter what I say.

@FTB : to respond to your earlier question, no it's not medium format, it's actually the point and shoot I carry with me everywhere. That's my new project shooting out airplane windows! , well that's somewhere between sarcasm & reality.

david s shooting out airplane windows does create shots with a certain allure. and speaking of sarcasm and reality, there is something in that project that can bring out a deadpan irony maybe worth exploring.
