I spent the past hour constructing this waterfall I made with approximately 25 white t shirts.

Taking it apart was a bit heartbreaking. There'll never be another quite like it.

A Premonition

It was hardly some time that passed,
Yet the dishes were accumulating
In the kitchen sink. Outside on the table
Was the letter he had promised
To send out the day she left for up north.
It was to be the second one, since
The first received no immediate attention.
For a few days he made telephone calls
At her urging to follow up on the request,
A simple one, but nonetheless something
Which failed to garner a sufficient response.
Perhaps it was not a good sign. He grew weary,
And the envelope remained waiting, or forgotten.
It carried on like this for a while longer,
Without much notice of the shift in time.
One morning he was struck by a sudden tic.
His right eye. Amidst the fluttering,
Light pressed its way across the room, while
The air around bore the tone of change to come.

In sync with the furniture.
I agreed at his suggestion,
Even as I knew
How I likely looked to him:
Aloof
As an empty medicine cabinet
Above the sink in the dead of winter.
