Was going to go for the press preview but then decided not to. The whole premise seemed kind of gimmicky.

It wasn't even remotely good. The only silver lining was the display of period couture that inspired some of the paintings but the layout was sloppy.

If anyone is looking for gallery work...

I'm going to guess they've received about a thousand resumes by now

Their new gallery at w20 is fucking amazing.

simplicity in art, mathematics, architecture, philosophy... tomorrow to the 5th at CUNY. talks by some pretty prominent speakers + discussions + film screenings. thought this would appeal to people on this forum, given that many appreciate minimalism.

the event is also the nyc premiere of an andy goldsworthy film. for those who aren't familiar with his work, here's a random student-made slideshow of his pieces.

How should I go about finding a place to live for 3 weeks in July?

I'm looking into taking courses at FIT for the second half of the summer semester (July 2-24th). I can't attend the first half due to obligations here at home. I contacted the school about living accommodations for just half of the semester, but they want me to pay the full price of $2500.

Is there a website where I can just search open rooms? Or perhaps one a fellow sz member could accommodate?

Also, I have a budget of $1500, if that's relevant.
“Man has somehow always feared this search, and I fear it even now. Suppose all man ever does is search for the reason, crosses oceans, sacrifices his life in the search; but to search it out, actually to find it, he’s afraid. For he senses that once he finds it, there will be nothing to search for.”

It is pretty shitty. Riding a citi bike falls somewhere between driving a tank and riding a donkey. But, it does the job and for a $100 a year it will pay for itself in saved train and cab fair and you get exercise. I'm onboard.

They're fun enough, and like you said, certainly affordable. On a nice day it's a good, healthy alternative to the train. That is, if you're not doored by a cab.
