While on the train, a guy got on and asked me which stop has the nearest hospital. Pulsatile bleeding from his hand which is poorly wrapped up in his shirt, he tells me "they cut my fingers off"... Weird night.

If you're really hardcore Mac then there's Logic Pro, but I personally don't really know many who use it.
Traktor, some swear by Cubase...
FL (Fruity Loops) Studio is really user friendly, and a perfect example of how it sounds is basically just Basshunter.
Maschine is also a good option if Ableton looks too intimidating, though it has a hardware sequencer.
I know (personally) a DJ and a few musicians who use Ableton and they make some fantastic stuff, but I also know a DJ who quite enjoys Maschine because it combines a cheap piece of hardware with software that is easy to use and much less daunting than Ableton. Though what type of music are you interested in making? And are you willing to purchase any hardware like sequencers? Which by the way, Akai makes really sweet monome like ones specifically for Ableton Live.
I'm quite biased towards Ableton though because some of my favorite musicians use it so...personal preference plays a big part.
But what style do you want to implement? Like sampling or what?

Thank you, Ahimsa!
Actually I have no clue what I would like to do, or to proceed with. I listened to Jamie XX and Odd Future, while I thought about this. Some simplistic rolling/mixing beats?
've never used any of those you mentioned. I'm really a newbie and would like to be introduced into this. Basically I just want to have something to do, as I'm almost living in my office. What would some of the hardware cost?
I would love if we could have some conversation about this, through e-mail or pm's!
