Hooper wouldn't really do that kind of stuff, it's not his bag. Sure he could do it. Also, he's in Austin now. Why not make the trip to Berlin and get it done by Chaim? Or maybe wait to see if he guests somewhere? Always find it better to go to the source if you like a particular style.
Hi. I like your necklace. - It's actually a rape whistle, but the whistle part fell off.

How was the experience? In the process of booking an appointment with Timor. Wanted to ask about tipping also and if it's expected in the EU.

tipping is not necessary from my experience. I was tattooed in Berlin at AKA, Lausanne and London and all 3 times I asked If I could tip them and they said no.

I don't understand why anyone would have to ask permission to tip a tattoo artist? And then for them to respond it's not allowed?

Why wouldn't you understand that not every country is like yours?
You only tip in restaurants here, ans that's only if the service was really good, as the price is already calculated with a tip.
And try to tip someone in Japan.
Seriously, I don't understand your reaction.

maybe that's because he's from a different country than you?

I assumed we're talking about nice tattoos that take more than an hour to make by established artists in Europe? Front waiting in high end restaurants can involve a combined 15 minutes of table interaction, excluding sommelier and others so it's not really comparable to extended undivided attention and focus of tattoo work.

I'm half Japanese and never got a tattoo. If one were to give an artist in Europe more than the cost telling them to keep the change be it anywhere from 10 to 30% of the work I doubt anyone would force you to take the tip back.

I don't think being close-minded is typical of any country.

You don't know the Japanese well then.

After living for a year in Tokyo, I can at least tell you that I met a lot of extravagant and welcoming people there too. Lot of close-minded people as well. It still doesn't mean it's related to their country.
Also, ffs, shouldn't SZ be some kind of open-minded utopia?
