^ agreed! though sometimes red combined with black is nice.

Enzo, red highlights can be nice if the entire tattoo is black and white. But you can always do this afterwards. I filled in the leaves with different shades of grey.

different shades of grey might be a good solution. i still have some time but i def wanted to get this one. preferably on the left breastside. where do u have urs?

with this a question comes to my mind: do u guys "fill out your body" going out from one point or just do ur tats randomly?

I think "dirtied" colors work well with black for traditional b/w tattoos at least. Would say to check out Philip Yarnell or Mike Adams for an example of what I mean by dirty colors.

i mean it is not defenitely but i dont like the "thought" that something allways has to be edgy, dark and sad in order to be serious.

Why do you even pay attention. if you like it just do it. Why do you care about the opinion of a bunch of people who doesn't know you, it's your skin.

This is what I thought for many years but have changed my mind since then, I think muted colours are great if done right. And I really like some red with black. That actually describes my last two pieces, one red and black, the other has very muted colors. Next one will be black and grey though

For me this only applies to more traditional work, modern stuff including anything geometric rarely looks good in color to me.

If you're getting traditional old school american or japanese pieces color is pretty necessary. Otherwise black is the way to go.

                        Yes. Example:
                        Red and Black Body Suit

                        Red and Black Tsubaki

                          Still no like. :(

Lowrey, I am sure yours are great, but I mostly like to admire red and black on clothes and printed matter.
