                        I went to school at Wesleyan, where Alvin Lucier teaches a course on the history of experimental music. It's one of the more famous courses in the curriculum, and you get all these jocks who sign up for it either to fulfill some concept of academic diversity or because they think it'll be an easy A. Regardless, the class where we discussed 4' 33" was fucking priceless. Just looking around the room at all these sorts of empty, pensive expressions, like a legion of infants quietly soiling themselves . . . it just doesn't get any better, or more depressing, than that.
