also, if you're into scott walker, be sure to check out later tim buckley (e.g/esp. starsailor), and, though much more of a stretch, robbie basho (e.g./esp. voice of the eagle & song of the stallion). similarly insane vocals + comparable musical genius.

Thanks for the rec on the documentary - I didn't know about it and now I'll have to look it up.

I like the jarring disconnect between the early stuff and late period stuff but you're probably right about the smooth transition. I love it when artists have a trajectory like this - I think Tom Waits is probably the most analogous.

I have starsailor (on record) and i never could quite got in to it - i'll give it another shot.

Kunk I saw you get banned! Some nastiness in the Current events section? I think I just missed it. Though J did say he was only going to "time you out."

            come - eleven:eleven

i've always had a thing for this band since gently down the stream was one of the first "indie" albums i bought. she may not have ever done anything truly great, but i have a lot of admiration for thalia zedek as she has a long career of solid songwriting. her and carla bozulich seem like they would make a good duo.

first time hearing this, also probably the first time I ever heard anyone name drop Junya Watanabe and Yohji Yamamoto in a rap song. Surreal...

New TV On the Radio. It's a little uneven but "Stork and Owl" is a thing of beauty. Worth buying just for that track.

Nice one DHC! Love "Just Drifting" and "Stolen Kisses." The original album cover art is phenomenal although it's since been reissued in a more techno-y looking package.
