Joey: my sister is visiting, but i'm pretty sure I'm gonna so see Frodus. I've seen big business enough to feel okay with skipping.

Q: It's looking like I have to skip the show tomorrow...D'oh. Manorexia events are far and few between. I know Jim is very picky about his performances...

Any takers on the No Fun tix?

Mostly hip hop. The last song I listened to earlier today though was Clipse - Kind Of A Big Deal.

Big Business is playing in Baltimore tonight, but I don't really know anything about them. Is it worth going?

If you've never seen em, they're fun - but they don't hold up well to repeated viewings, I find.

But it's the bassist of Karp, which kind of automatically makes them awesome, with the drummer of the Murder City Devils. They sound like Karp and the Melvins. Which is basically Karp. Also - They're currently the rhythm section for the Melvins. It's kind of a wet dream for them - it's the equivillant of James Johnston from Gallon Drunk becoming the guitarist for the Bad Seeds after Blixa quit. Basically a band that spent their career emulating their idols only to be asked to be in the band. It's adorable.

And of course you should go - it's Baltimore, and Baltimore fucking rules, hon. Go O's!

EDIT: Manorexia was f'in awesome this evening...

Speaking of Thrones, dude's playing an instore here in town in 2 days... man, this place is actually kinda ruling a little bit of late. Saw both Blank Dogs and Acid Mother's Temple up close and personal over the course of about 72 hours a few weeks back (dug 'em both though I don't listen to a lot of either on record), just caught Scott Tuma last weekend (and scored hott tix to this, watch for updates in the BEER thread as it goes down)... I love spring (or just about any season aside from the half year of winter we get)...

And just to keep this on-topic, still rolling a lot of Stax/Volt at work, today with a dash of Out To Lunch 'cause it's been a while with that one. At home, I finally blocked out some big chunks of time to give repeat listens to dis bad bwoy, and my week has been that much better for it. Still haven't scoped the included DVD, tho'...
I think they're easily the number one punk item.

Shyy - La Nuit Qui Ne Tue Pas

really nice instrumental... shoegaze/black metal? I think I read that somewhere.

Oh wow, haven't heard that in a while, and you are absolutely right. The video is lump in the throat material. Will listen to it now :) Thanks for the reminder.

Really wonderful folk/country fellow, fixture on the Baltimore underground scene. Caught him at the Golden West in Hamden on Friday, highlight's were the song Ashamed and a Townes Van Zandt cover.
