And thank you, Ledger, for advertising me the new Knife album. A Swedish saying: »It's hard to prophecy in your home country.« Sometimes I forget about The Knife. I find them a bit canting, their anti-medialism all too medial and their anti-live manifesto all too soon broken (a matter of months). While they always deliver good music, being a technohead I don't regard them as original as many Swedes. These days, I prefer Olof Dreijer's return to Detroit in solo project Oni Ayhun.

That said I must comment on the thus newly discovered Knife album Tomorrow, In A Year. The initial soundscape is dense, dark ambient somewhat inspired by Joy Division. But hey... That's right! This is their opera! Their Darwin opera!

And as soon as the opera voice enters, the album's impossible to listen to.

Okay, inspite the impossibility I've listened the new Knife album through.

I find it a peculiar release – and a peculiar project to set this music on the opera stage.

It sets off interesting, but longer in the album I find the grain of opera grow to an ordinary Knife live performance. Even Karin Dreijer's voice is audible. (Voice-mixing exposes the multiplicity of creation?)

I question Knife's intentions. Darwin is about as anti-Knife they'll get in the gender constructivism and anti-biologism.

Some of the music is good. But I don't get the context. I generally find them hard to grip. They should probably gain some recognition for their boldness, though.

Yesterday I heard Burnt Friedman & Jaki Liebezeit live. It was a really nice and humble concert: exact sounds, excellent coordination, between the two and between organic and electronic instruments. You can listen to some of their work on Spotify.
                definitely envious, M!

                    .

Oh Merz, the guy can't help it if his voice sounds like theirs. Yeah, I know, I know– Curtis is a legend and Cave is gonna be. No argument there. I'm comparing the sound–not the talent. So don't you even think about pulling out your new angry kitty at me over this one.

This may help: don't take it so literally; the expression was just meant as a "not you, too", that's all. Remove the backstab implication and you're golden.
