my fortnightly visit to the used record store yesterday:
- picked up a few fahey albums because hoping to one day have it all on vinyl.
- picked up albert ayler - witches and demons...pretty fucking good and glad to have it on vinyl...seemingly the only format where i actually listen and let music simmer anymore. mp3s ruined my life. not vibrations or spiritual unity good necessarily but really fucking good. this is what i'm listening to.
- also picked up jarrett's koln koncert because i think i lost my old copy. good standby. vert's interpretation on sonig is brilliant.
heh, kudos for posting this up mate, one of my all time favourites..
yep, absolutely great song...especially considering who wrote/sings it. i sat @ a table with him @ max's a loooooooooooong time ago, and....well... we talked? he seemed to be a very cool, but tortured, dude.
i've seen him a few times with the heartbreakers and the dolls but the most surreal experience was seeing the ny dolls play at the famous 21 club restaurant club in nyc. i don't remember why but the dolls played there and they were brilliant.
ronnie spector covers the song well. this is the best i could find on youtube but i've heard much better
and of course gun n roses
there are many other covers but meeting jt for the brief time that i did, i know it is HIS song
solid space...btw, this is the year this gets reissued...hopefully not by weird (i dont know why, but not into the label yet). heard someone on that label covering solid space...bringing absolutely nothing to the table...awful.
