I know that MoFiya just posted this a couple of days ago but its just so good that I had to again. Just got it on vinyl on my way home from work, will not leave my turntable for days!
"Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the world and I'll stand on Bob Dylan's coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that"

^ hehe, wanted to listen to it again while training today but got stuck at Tallest Man On Earth... Kind of motivating when doing cardio..
Still love this album... too bad I missed the concert with an orchestra due to a exam I had to write :(

I'm going to respectfully disagree (emphasis on respectfully) with Klang and suggest "Delta Momma Blues" - while not quite as solid as "Our Mother, the Mountain" - it does hold two of his most devestatingly beautiful songs - "Rake" and "Nothin'"...
Just my two cents...
Re: Venom P Stinger - I was both guest-listed and blacklisted for that show. Fucking hell...but I heard I didn't miss much...

i'd say work through the first 3 albums - for the sake of the song, our mother the mountain, and townes van zandt. but if you have to settle for one, then our mother the moutain - lots of great songs on that one:

... been listening to that today. Hard to describe. It's basically electronic music, but very onomatopoetic (< damn, that word is cool in English). Very inspiring in a moody way. Like some kind of Rorschach test to listen to.

the whole album is a bit redundand... but i love this song. and the whole story of the man himself is just mystic and somehow deeply romantic.
