Paul Jebanasam - Continuum. The best slab of computerized sound I've heard on this side of the New Year's Eve.

            Fantastic promo video: https://vimeo.com/145992383

Some Russian punk rock for you. Never gets old and always tears my soul apart.

God, that first video is so brutal. It reminds me of when my parents took me to Seoul when I was a kid, and a middle aged homeless man who had no legs was sat on a scooter next to a karaoke machine. He sang sad Korean trot music while people passed by without any acknowledgment, but my dad gave me some money to give him.

Kind of makes Roger Ballen's photography timid by comparison, doesn't it? (Not trying to take away from it)

I think the video seemed more sympathetic and human, maybe just due to the nature of video vs photography and the context of the darker punk music. I have no idea whether that is actually the case, though; I can't understand Russian, I have no idea where that footage came from, and I had to Google Ballen.

It definitely is the case. This kind of work is always ambivalent - are people like Ballen capitalizing on others misfortune? I was not sure. I saw a short doc on the Ballen book and it seems like he is genuinely moved by these people.

I am listening to Tomasz Stanko he is a brilliant Polish jazz trumpet player. His music plays in the opining credits of Homeland series, if you guys are familiar with it :)

considering the age of sz, i'm surprised more of the 80s music isn't really on here. either way, lighter fare, but a new wave synth classic.
