Saw Black Swan last night. That movie was at best mediocre. I knew it would be predictable but thought it would at least be entertaining, instead it managed to be both simplistic and try-too-hard. Now everyone was acting just fine, the ballet was cute and I thought the mother was really touching (like in Requiem, there must be a pattern), apart from this I felt like I was being taken for an imbecile, and the camera movements seriously made me sick.
A Single Man. Not bad. Polished like a Gucci ad, but not bad. If you watch, don't make the mistake of watching "the making of." Ford is as profound as a box of brillos.

Funny, I just watched this with my grandmother a few days ago as she had seen something about it and wanted to. Was it on TV or something recently?
EIther way, was coming to type basically the same thing. So many moments where I kept expecting the camera to pan to a supermodel holding perfume. Even still I have to say I enjoyed watching it if only since it's basically retro-cool fashion / design / architecture porn. That and every character was about as good looking as possible so it's certainly easy enough on the eyes.
Re: Enter The Void - I don't find it was a potrayal of drug use. Rather a hypothesis on life, death and what's beyond it.
I agree, nothing to do with drugs really.
But also seriously, and at the end comically, too long. I am talking about the 3 hour version. And badly acted. Really badly. Style > Substance.
Opening titles rock. So hard, Hype (remote controlled by Kanye) had to copy them. Badly.
