Being surrounded by mainstream American pop culture and its target audience in a bloated dine-in theater was like an exercise in public loneliness. But the chicken quinoa bowl was good, and the seats were super comfy. Art theaters never have seats that comfortable.
I don't even know what that is #newyorkcity

Saw Wolfpack this weekend, maybe the best thing I've seen this year.

I wouldn't call it a return to form for Scott, but for the 2 hours I was in the theatre I was entertained, mainly by the visuals. Have not thought about it since until now.
Hi. I like your necklace. - It's actually a rape whistle, but the whistle part fell off.

My friend whispered to me during the movie, "I just fell asleep and dreamt that I was at a better movie."

Not going to bother to do anything but maybe watch it online in a few yrs if I need something light.

Moscow has luxury cinemas with 50 euros fat ass seats and some food. I'd like to have a version of that where they serve lobsters, would be ideal to watch certain movies.

If you're in New York, Nitehawk in Brooklyn serves drinks and dinner. It's not lavish but quite nice, they play a lot of material that's hard to find as well.

A print (I think one of 3 remaining originals) of Shirley Clarke's The Connection from Scorsese's private library was particularly amazing to see.

Made total sense to me after seeing the movie.

On another note, I haven't watched anything new and worthy in a while. I thought unemployement would be a never-ending stream of catching up on classics and obscure gems, but I guess idleness is a vicious circle (not that any of my previous jobs or studies were intellectually stimulating - maybe being in a dull environment encouraged me to reach out for interesting material). Having one computer for two certainely doesn't help, especially when you share it with an insomniac who can only fall asleep to the sound of a Polanski movie (I can now recite the entire dialogue and soundtrack to The Ghost Writer).
Watched Bong Joon Ho's student movie Barking Dogs Never Bite last week, I had seen it a first time some five years ago, but appreciated it better this time. In light of his lack of resource and material back then, I'd say it's one of his best movies, right behind Memories of Murder. Clever comedy scenario, great shot ideas, nicely handled rythm, and already his trademark humour drawn from social comentary.

Yeah, someone had to help me out with that too, since I hadn't seen that movie. Kind of makes me want to see it
