It's some weird form of clothing s&m. I think my grimace works well with the boots and his overlock jacket.
Atelier only had the single jointed version. The double version feels like a rabid dog is in the trash compactor with you.

Try buying a thin half type insole and instead of using it for the bottom of your foot, use it to protect the top. That's what I did for my double jointed boots I bought from Chinorlz and could wear them all day w/o any discomfort.

My shoe guy put a small pad where it hurt me at the joint and it was much better, never thought about putting an entire sole there though. I'll give it a shot.

Where do you have pain? If you only have pain at the front joint by the toe, you should try bringing them to get stretched. You'll get minimal stretching but the front toe joint may stop hurting. The stretching seems to completely break in the front joint. I know my left boot which I had stretched has no pain in the front anymore after getting stretched, while the right one still does.
