i will say that the leather used on the sleeves of the samurai coat is very very good. probably the best rick has used in years. i was told that he will have a leather jacket using that leather for the upcoming season.

Pretty sure this is the leather he used for a few of that jackets i've tried on at palais royal and l'eclaireur. it feels very substantial.

Has anyone seen either of these pieces in person? I'd love to see some more pictures of the coat, or hear what it is like in person.

I'm also particularly interested in buying the first one, so if anyone has seen it for sale online let me know!

I would like everyone to pardon my rant below, but I just had a fiasco with Oki-ni again on RO.

You have got to hear this - a few threads back (see previous page) I asked about sizing of a pair of RO boots from SS09 on sale at Oki-ni. To cut a long story short, I wanted to get them finally last week but they are suddenly back to full price!

After a long string of emails...the explanation is that the IT made a mistake and they should never have gone on sale as they are being carried over to the next season.

well, it's been settled since (as great as always Lucy) but does anybody know what the hell is 'carried over to next season?' This is the first time I've ever heard this, these are not even the trainers which are staples, so WTH?

And Spencer, you are lucky you got a good deal then, cos now these are back to full retail!

this is a bit odd considering many things from RO are carried over seasons, the flagship stores have things like tanks, t-shirts and whatnot on sale even though they will have the same stuff for the next season.

but as said, its up to stores how they sort it out - if its the exact same product then they have no need to push it out of the way as they do with clearly seasonal products, so I suppose it makes some sense.

In my experience there are a few select items that just never go on sale. I only know the policies for RO nyc, but at that store they (or at least this is what they told me) never put black leather jackets or the trainers on sale. It's fucked up for us, but I guess those items are looked at as "classic items" that will always be desirable, since they're essentially RO.
