best boots ive seen all season so far.

but the ecclesiastic 'edge' is getting tiresome to consider.

so long as the construction and, especially, the material, is good, id be happy.

The boots are awesome, both in smooth leather with visible edge and in the reverse. There is also a pony version for you, Macro.

I know! I'm really happy she is making statements through her tailoring instead of superficial embellishments. I love the simplicity of the suede short buttoned jacket and the old-school sharpness of the shirt-style collars. An excellent collection with a lot of timeless, quintessentially Ann garments.

That one long coat with the high waisted pants is beautiful.

Looks like the boots may have a zip. Hoping.

Beautiful collection and presentation. This really feels like a return to form of sorts. The romance is back and while some of the more "minimal/modern" collections like fw12 is a nice addition to the Ann-universe, this is what she does best.

Looks 4,5 and 10 pretty much sums up everything I love about her work.

The wider ones ? I do ; less aristocratic, more farmerboy-ish - which means that at least you can move your arms wearing those.

I quite like the whole collection - wide jackets, long flowing coats... Beautiful silhouettes all the way - heavily connoted, for sure, but this is probably the main reason for me to love Ann, when I do love her.

that's precisely my point: Ann is supposed to put together a dandy silhouette, not a peasant's. thus, it makes the outfits a bit incoherent to me.

Well, since she failed to expand the spectrum of her collections to non-victorian territories, it sounds like a much safer choice to give into some social diversity while sticking to her usual (fantasmatic) references.

i always thought ann was at her best when she left the renaissance fair costumes behind, but apparently not when she self-consciously tried to do so. i say it all the time that the amorphous cobweb blob knits are my favorite. i could see how the infamous cthulhu cardigan from half the waywts i posted fits into her historical vision but it's never the first reaction that people have to it.

maybe she should continue to start with the historical stuff, but abstract further before she finishes.

that's a witty answer but i think you underestimate the punk element she has always more or less mixed with the victorian one, it's 1870+1970 together (see the combat boots that macro enjoys, the destroyed huge knits patroklus refers to etc)!
