the Quay brothers'

The Brothers Quay are fantastic. They do owe a considerable deal to someone like Svankmajer - someone who they revere and refer to quite frequently. There's a cruder quality to Svankmajer's work that I tend to prefer.

Here's Svankmajer's adaptation of Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher which is, for me, something of a "style inspiration", for want of a better expression.

Amazing

yeah, the filiation is very visible, but the Quay brothers have a very varied inspiration, and it's fun to try to "get" all their references, although it's not necessarily always possible. every time I see their work I notice something different, I can't get tired of it, especially the one about gilgamesh and "crocodile street"

it's not often that a look really catches my attention on The Sartorialist, but the silhouette on the left is very appealing. I love everything about it, but the pants in particular are gorgeous (unfortunately and probably mistakenly, I always feel such shapes make me look fat)
