I'd be looking for all kinds! That would be a huge help as well and I would truly appreciate it.

Mood can kiss my ass. Seriously, that place is bunk. I'd hit up Michael Levine if price is no object. Rag Finder is pretty cool if your down to go digging. If you have a swatch, they are pretty good about helping you find what you are looking for. Great prices at the latter location. Both downtown.

It's inside the cal market center on the first floor. If you walk in to the center on the side where that huge sculpture is outside it will be on your left. It's a small store but I can't imagine it being any bigger for it being just a fashion bookstore, because they have pretty much everything. Except Purple magazine, but Book Soup has that. But every other magazine you could think of they have. Every import Vogue, french, russian, korean, every indie japanese magazine, every indie uk magazine. they have it. they have alot of reference books too which is cool....

yeah, FIDM also sells fabric, but the real finds are the header cards. They are really there for students who do projects but they are goldmines for people who just want samples or good vendor info. It's usually packed on saturday morning, which is the best time to go because they bring out all the good stuff that morning for the ambush, then its slim pickens after that. I walked out of there once with 5 bolts of old-school tie fabric and about 50 header cards for 4 bucks.

seriously, im not one of those guys who makes chairs out of old ties, im not big on tie fabric, but it actually is pretty hard to come by! go into 10 fabric stores and not one will have old-school looking tie fabric!

oh and F&S fabric is aight. but yeah mood is weaksauce. and that girl is worth the price of NOT GOING. she actually tried to call me out on my "Free The West Memphis Three" shirt the very first time I went in there. like "why do you care? is this your political statement?" needless to say she almost got strangled with a poly-blend.

Really? I find F&S to be a little pricey. They are well staffed though. Very helpful crew in there, that's for certain.

yeah its not great.....the more that i think about it....i went to this fabric WAREHOUSE that was super cheap and had alot of decent stuff. i mean, you get a grocery cart and walk through this home depot type of fabric place, it's crazy-and cheap, and good fabs.

my friend drove me their after no sleep, literally none, and early morn drinking but i remember it was like on the outskirts of l.a. off the highway next to a few casino and casino-slash-hotels. and a couple outlet malls. i think i saw a dior outlet mall. i cant remember where it is but if anybody knows what im talking about speak up because that place was cool. and getting a couple hands of blackjack in after blowing some cash on fabric is cooler.

Guys I work at Mood in New York for the time being and if you send me in photos or descriptions of what you want I can send you swatches. Just address the letter to George and tell me you are from SZ. Once you receive what I sent you , you call and place an order. I also now fabrics and quality pretty well.

Also for L.A. store ask for Raul ( the girl you hate was a cousin and is now no longer part of the company) and tell him George sent you and maybe, just maybe he will get someone that knows what they are doing and can actually help you.

If anyone is in New York and want to stop by, I will be more than happy help a fellow SZ'er,
just ask for George. However I am not there on Wednesdays.

                    OK?

ouch. well it's good to know she doesn't work there. but honestly the l.a. store altogether is different from the ny store. l.a. store blows (no offense)...but as far as fabric there the stock just isn't up to par with stuff you can find at trade shows. not to complete bash or anything, you do have some decent denim. but whoever is draping stuff on the dress forms in l.a. needs to be fired, seriously, it's that bad. and to make one thing clear now that we have somebody repping mood here. im not dissing mood. im dissing fabric stores in general. im not a fan of ANY of them. Im more into trade shows and working directly with the mills. the reason being, even big, well known fabric stores will not stock high quality fabrics. maybe a little case full but that's it. for top notch stuff you will have to go to the mills.

for small projects like most people here are doing, its a waste of time to even bother with the mills because they have minimums and want TAX ID# and a whole lot of other stuff sometimes thars a waste.....................

Moods is a very good source of fabrics, as they stock alot of good quality fabrics that many high end designer uses, thier inventory night be a season or two behind but who cares............... I know fabrics and theirs are some of the best Non- mill fabrics you can find.

Trade shows are a waste of time too if you are not doing Mass production of the items.......

Cas, i cannot seem to find the thread where the fabric stores were posted (Faust do we generally delete threads after they've been around and not used for awhile?)

I will try to post a listing again probably on the weekend, with those that will send you samples as i know you are in LA.

Mood New York and Mood Los Angeles are two entirely different beasts. I think you would be sorely disappointed if you were to visit the L.A. location Zamb. I know that of all the members here, you are probably the most knowledgeable here. So if you visit Mood L.A. and still feel its great, I'll eat my words. They do have some great fabric, but the prices are insane. If you are going to pay premium prices of that magnitude in Los Angeles, Michael Levine is def. the spot to hit up.

Guys, I know Mood LA sucks. It is new, the space is smaller, and its just trying to get its legs. The staff, I don't know them personally except my man Raul, who is there from NY store for a little while.

Yeah Zamb is correct about the reps and mills if you are not producing quantities.

So for LA, I never go there anymore and when I used to go, I saw nothing impressive also( in terms of fabric stores). But thru Mood in LA you can also get in contact with me in New York very easily and we can all work together.

**Just trying to help my fellow SZ'ers. I am not pumping up MOOD. I just know there is plenty of great stuff there that people here should take advantage of.
