true, but it's annoying to see people state that they paid a lower price than what they're asking (in an attempt to appeal to buyers and speed up sale), when they didn't actually pay that much

Call me stupid, I just can't see why something can be worth more just because I have owned or worn it.

it's not that you have owned/worn it; as kuugaia pointed out, value increases for rare sought after items and the people are willing to pay for it. i'm fairly certain many of us have seen items bought from X and flipped for a profit successfully at Y. even if one can see that the seller paid less (through completed listings, feedback, etc.), buyers are still willing to pay

kuugaia also made a good point of buyers not having access to it in their respective locality. for example, there are some rare Lanvin items i'd likely pay a premium for on auctions considering most stockists i come across don't buy what i'm looking for

And yes, I am saying that. I regard buyers here more as like-minded friends than as business partners and want to be treated like that when I buy something.

it happens here all the time though. not going to blow the whistle with examples, because i don't see anything wrong with this practice. courtesy is extended through discounts and the good finds & help finding threads, which i think is sufficient

i would never purchase items for the sole purpose of profiting, but if i own something that i got for a good deal and the fair market value is higher than that, i will sell for the fair market value, it's only logical. but DRRRK, i do admire what you do!

Thanks, monomon. Sincerity does not exclude stupidity sometimes, at least in my case. I have thought about this again and, although I doubt that this will happen, when I want to sell something and a higher price is offered to me I would agree of course. The items that will gain value are rare and I do not possess one.

BTW, the discussion with kuugaia was finished via PM. I have changed my mind about the way the dresses were sold after I've learned about some details.
