Yes, the last couple of collections are of inferior quality. I don't necessarily attribute it to moving production itself, but also the choice of fabrics. This jacket is excellent though - love those amazing chunky zippers.

i agree, especially the kind of fabricsused inknitwear [N]. I likethe 2004,2005 collectionsmost, lovethe leather jackets.

I must agree to Faust. I saw SS?08 collection and found quality was not as good as used to be. Watched same labels and items are no longer produced in Belgium but appearing some developing countries. It does not means by itself quality must decrease, however I got the feeling she is selling so well that needs to increase production. Do I coming to the subject on NYT Luxury article?

I got a couple of pieces of Lanvin outerwear from Barneys NY over the past couple of weeks:



Lanvin four-pocket wool/metal flannel blouson (with a sweater and shirt under it, it's warm enough into the low forties)



Lanvin black cashmere/wool anorak (haven't seen this anywhere else. construction quality is pretty amazing, taped seams on the inside, good cotton lining along the front pocket.)

Yeah, ddonghdo, it's that jacket, although it's black, that one looks brown.



Elastic along the waist, cuffs, neck, etc. Brass pulls attached to a leather (?) cord to tighten the hood. The fabric is basically a black 50% cashmere/50% virgin wool overcoat fabric (tightly woven, brushed nap). I like it, it basically looks like a plain black hooded pullover from a distance.



I think Barneys NY had one or two left in smaller sizes.

i never made a close look at that piece although it looked cool. when i was there the other day i thought it was gone. did you purchase it at the madison barneys in nyc? what was the price on it?

Yeah - I paid $1256, marked down from $3140 (just an insane price for a glorified hoodie).

Ah ok, that thing looks pretty cool. There's another look in the collection with that jacket except it's the fuschia color as well. The Barneys here didn't pick that piece up..I wish I could see it in person.

brutal price on the anorak, even at a discount. comparable to the m.a+ aviator.

naw, i'll be checking out the coat again tomorrow. i need to exchange some gifts at barneys tomorrow and pick up some RO sneaks for someone.
