one could probably make the assumption that stores do choose hangers on an aesthetic level, due to the fact that they don't think they'll be storing the clothes for several years.

For the particularly narrow or broad shouldered among us, it can be useful to get wider/narrower hangers for suits. http://hangerproject.com/ is a good resource for them, though it is spendy. Some fancier dry cleaners also stock plastic hangers with the extra round/wide shape. My old dry cleaner was very fancy (though not very expensive, who knows), so I ended up with a stack of about 10 of them. If you're hunting round shouldered hangers on the cheap, it might be worth calling around.Hobo: We all dress up. A fair number of people were curious about the Shellac leather jacket I posted just a bit back. I got the 52. It fits true to slightly large, it is slim cut, but not aggressively so. It's a relatively thick, buttery soft, slightly distressed black sheepskin. I'm afraid the 52 is not going back to Archive. I finally found a leather jacket I love after 12 years of hunting. The only thing I would say is that I almost wish the zipper pulls on the chest pockets were smaller. That's it. The hooded wool underlayer is (to my mind) nothing special, but a freebie is a freebie.
They still have a 46 and a 54.Hobo: We all dress up. We all put on our armour before we walk out the door, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re trying to be someone else.
