Just added thick vibram lug soles to A1923 boots. I really like the end result.
Glad I didn't sell them afterall. Thanks to the 2 members that convinced me to go for this 'rugged' idea, I do not regret it!

Anything specific I should tell my cobbler with regards to vibraming my CCP tornados ? Don't want them to get butchered etc as per previous posts

Besides the usual do not touch the welt and no polish, just get him grind the heel and slap a vibram on it ?

Is there anything i should tell him not to do about the nails as per photo below ?

Has anyone ever Vibramed / replaced rubber soles? I've got a pair of YY sneaks that have really soft, flexible rubber soles. They're wearing quickly, and the left has cracked under the ball.

I've a decent old school cobbler in Austin, but he works primarily with leather / wood repair, I've never asked him about rubber work.

How do you tie those super long leather shoelaces? Do you wrap them around ankle? Just got Layer-0 boots.

Hi All new to the site and just bought some a1923 and was curious to know when you vibram a boot should you get the heel done as well :) might be a stupid question :)

                Cheers

the heel's the first thing to wear down on all my shoes. i'd recommend a tap on the heel as well if you're prone to walking that way.

I can [almost] promise, you won't regret...

I've done 2 more since this posting. Less 'chunky' that these, but still enough to add some edge.

this is seriously next level especially for a1923 boots which have a very low sole and heel profile and in my opinion can only benefit from the added chunkiness. moreover the process can always be undone and a conventional vibram sole added. i'm going to give it a shot.

Just bought a second hand pair of InAisce boots and was wondering how I should care for the leather? Never really taken care of my leather shoes before but guessing I should begin now.

It's a little scrunched up around the zips as you can see, which is a little annoying when trying to zip, any way to remedy this?

                            Thanks in advance!

wooden soles? i guess, would prevent cracks.
but how comfortable can wooden soles get?
                              barely any shock absorption.

It's ok when you walking. I didn't notice a huge difference between wood and other shoes such as my RO sneakers, except the footstep sound.

But I think you had to take care more.
