Since we're on the topic of feet. I would need a recommendation for good quality lasting insoles or tips on how to look for what is good. My high tops sneakers are now taking a backseat in favor of boots for the fall and I've noticed that my crappy insoles, I bought early this year, has already been eaten up. Thanks in advance!
As far as insoles go, I personally make it a point to put a pair of "TACCO" insoles in all my shoes/boots. They're thin leather insoles made in Germany that conform to your feet very well. You can find them at any decent shoe repair store. Hope that helps.
Thanks so much Agent L, I will definitely go buy this. The ones I see around are those crappy things you find at Shoemania. I'm looking at the wrong places. Great I will buy a couple.
You can get them on ebay for like $10 easy. I found them to be only a subtle difference.
I've actually abandoned them in my boots because i found that after walking for a while, the slope of the boot caused the insoles to bunch and crinkle up at the arch of the foot. I took them out and now wear my CCPs sans any insole. Not really any problems with comfort... aside from the fact that I need to readjust my socks every so often as they bunch down at the arch of my foot too. grrrr
Very cool! So I found the Tacco at a Shoe Repair shop, just as mentioned,. and tried them on. So far no complains, I would have only wished that they had variants in thickness. But they are well snug, even with my other boots that's a tad wider. Oh and got them for $8.50 only.
I can't wear my CCP boots without any insoles, way too uncomfortable
(the leather is kinda bumpy and I can feel the nailheads), so I use Dr.
Scholl's Gel insoles. The boots are like heaven now, seriously. Start
gellin', people![H]
Does anyone here wear white leather shoes other than sneakers? I'm thinking of buying some SS Jil Sander shoes on sale in time for next summer and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips about how to keep them looking clean, or maybe examples of how they've got dirty and looked cool like that.
and what are good rubber soles to put on leather shoes?

For rubber soles, definitely take those kicks to a cobbler. They buff the sole (I know, it's kinda scary to think about) and then lay on a thin (3-4mm) piece of rubber. I talked to my cobbler and he made sure that the rubber sole did not cover the "Carol Christian Poell Safe" words at all. Getting the rubber sole on them cost around $45 and took a few working days. Completely worth it!
