BTW-anyone else own one of these Thamanyah kandoras? I wore it out tonight and I love it but it's sorta narrow like a pencil skirt. (i.e.-when I walk I have to take small strides) Did anyone else tailor theirs to open it up a little? Curious.

There were some shorter kandora-type pieces in his 1st season which resolved that issue, and even those were meant to be twisted and tucked into the back of whatever was being worn underneath, which brought the hem up even higher for a longer stride. I've not seen the full-length kandoras styled that way, however.

I've been to parties at all times of the year where all manner of costumerie was encouraged, if not required. Absent such an environment, I lack the verve to pull off such a construction. Actually, even given such an environment I lack said verve, but I can more readily envision that get-up at an underground warehouse party where everyone else is in various states of mental and sartorial disarray.

yeah, liked the shorter one to unzip and tuck, but like the long strict nature of this one, so I snagged it and had it hemmed. It walks relatively well, but more like a 80% step instead of a 100% one.

As for "costume". No way. Wearing unique pieces, even if considered costume like to some, is fun. I wore that to the hospital yesterday and gave a lecture in it. People loved it, particularly people from Eastern culture. I find people who aren't from the fashion world like a little variety introduced into their life and while the average person on the subway might stare or peer with those evil little eyes, at least the average Joe stands 10 feet away. haha

Good on you. It's heartening to know there are places and fields where you can lecture in whatever you want and be taken seriously. It can't be said for everywhere, however.

i like this! i wish i had enough courage to do things like this. the first time i saw karlo steel he was wearing something very similar and looked like a giant among men. he moved with a confidence so sublime you wouldnt even question if what he was wearing was costume but ceremonial garb. fits like this require a confidence not many possess.
the inaisce hat doesnt work in my opinion but everything else is great. what shoes are you wearing?
