I think if you know fuuma you will know he is possibly the most eclectic member here we have on SZ, in terms of his interest and taste in different aspects of culture/ fashion. Its not a bad thing, its just who he seems to be (at least to me)
I think this was brought up when Fuuma made a couple other posts here... I think he was wearing Supreme or American Apparel or something and had a flannel around his waist. At any rate, I think people tended to like his stuff but at the same time the general belief was that he was/is the only person who can wear such things here and post on WAYWT because anyone else would be either be called a troll, get flamed, or get told they're in the wrong forum.

That's certainly true, only Fuuma could get away with that kind of thing. But I think that's unfortunate, because that one fit, if you swap out the shirt for a colorful Haider or Dries shirt, then that would have been something solid that anyone should be able to get away with without causing a scene. Maybe it's the camp of the thrift in addition to the high-low that puts it into Fuuma territory, though.

I really can laugh about Fuuma's 'eclectic' fits and usually find it funny, although be it out-of-SZ-place. But style-wise that outfit was not worth to post here imho. A bad fit, hipster or not, remains a bad fit. And that one was a failed attempt at 'funny fit'.

We had a whole discussion a while back regarding normcore and such, to post quality here etc...This just falls into the category which should not be posted here. The latter with blue blazer though is fine imho, not SZ but stylish enough to be posted.

I'd like to think a new poster wearing the same would be welcomed as long as they wore it with similar aplomb. It's a nice reminder that, in the end, this is still fashion (call it anti-fashion all one likes, we're still consumers) and as in all fashion, money won't buy the most basic and most important element--self-possession.

And look, not to rub anyone the wrong way, but if I never see another Rick-Owens-by-the-numbers fit in my life, it'd still be too fucking soon. Anyone wearing a fit that they have actually put together themselves--rather than copied from the net wholesale--should be applauded.

Disagree, I think there are some people, bu virtue of their knowledge, contribution to the forums etc, that end up being above reproach in certain respects. Fuuma has achieved that over the years of posting great fits and demonstrating he has solid sartorial knowledge not just in Avante Garde fashion but everything across the spectrum to bespoke tailoring and footwear.

There was a discussion about Rick's work saying F-U to the mainstream. In a way I think Fuuma has been SZ's ultimate F-U to thinks like "authenticity" "goth ninja" "artisanal fashion" or whatever else might come up as a subject to be taken seriously........

To put on a floral print rayon challis shirt, black jeans and a Webbing and D-ring belt in utterly ridiculous, but for it to be done by a man who has high end leather jackets, handmade suites and bespoke shoes in his closet is the ultimate F-U..

Its like owning 5 supercars but driving a beat up Volkswagen to a car show, and no one who knows you find it ridiculous because they are fully aware that you do it just because you can.......

the beauty of it is that we are all able to laugh at the fit and shake our head at his ballsiness in posting it here, but I think its worth it because of the humor it brings to the forums and it resulting in discussions such as these.........

Conversely, I agree here that reputable posters shouldn't get a pass with bad fits, but why do you think that was a bad fit?

To me, it looks very well composed. A relaxed shirt, a white belt defining the waistline and transitioning from bright, loose-fitting color on top to black, slim-fitting jeans anchored by a nice pair of boots on the bottom. The simple metal watch and bracelet are just right as well, not too much, it's great. Everything works well together and has its own sort of visual space. Whereas the one with the blazer, I don't like that one. I think the shirt is a bit try hard or appropriational of culture. But I don't know his ethnic background or context, so maybe it's OK.

I didn't over analyzed the outfit, but it did not pleased my eye. It's mostly due to the floral shirt with the very dropped shoulders and the silky looking fabric.

For me shirt could work if he wore something like beaten gat-sneakers or chucks, cuffed the pants and untucked the shirt. Or wore sandals/flipflops, and some shorts that end above the knee with a straw hat. Wear that shirt open with a tank underneath. I dunno...something too match the summer-ness in that shirt.

Yeah this is a bit of a stretch for me, I might say that the posters here who spend 4x as much on their wardrobe as I do to look like an underpaid poetry professor at Bard are exercising "bad fits" but it's kind of a case by case reality since we're talking about modular artwork meant to evoke the wearer's personality. As mentioned, same goes for all black rick owens swinger fits and plain black t shirts with black jeans and black boots.

In theory half this thread is an array of bad fits that don't say anything about the posters -- I wouldn't put Fuuma's controversial retired porn look in the same category. For what it's worth I would estimate what you're perceiving as "bad" is the intentional sloppiness of the fit that makes it "good."

But I'm sure the man's laughing his ass off at all this right now either way.
