sometimes chant's rules perplex me.... over cerebral, little chance for serendipity.
This word doesn't exist in French. True.
I don't know why, maybe because we're on a "dark" forum, but some of the members seem to ignore the basic rules of color matching (and, more important, the few impossible combinations). But they're the same in painting.
Or maybe they don't care. But it hurts everytime my eye.
Beige works with grey, brown, white, light blue, etc.
In addition, in this particuliar combination, the contrast between the upper and the lower part is too strong.
If the question is for real : it works of course, since the blue is dark. Wouldn't with a light one.
Would like to see a standing picture, but I like it.
he i think the cuffs works when sitting down like that but not sure about standing ha ! anyway you changed my mind about that coat looks great didnt like it styled on the runway but the way you wear it is good
Chant, although i sometimes agree, other times i think that the color rules don't always apply. black+blue, black+brown, etc. sometimes works from what i've seen
as for khaki+brown specifically, this is the reason i bought the trench cape! i think it looks great with a black turtleneck underneath

But isn't octopussy beige (or dove colored?) and haven't you been wearing her with black?
...I mean the ephemeral, the fugitive, the contingent, the half of art whose other half is the eternal and the immutable.
The rules based approach seems odd to me, particulary on this forum. Most of the clothes posted here don't follow conventional rules on fit (CCP sleeves to take one obvious example). Not sure why colour should be looked as "classically" when other aspects are not.

You're right of course. But in this picture, there's something which was lacking in the previous combination : a dark colour recall in the upper part. And the boots are slightly shining, which enlights them a bit and make them work a tad more with the beige cape trench.
But I still think that beige/black combination is not a good one.
Laika : the scarf is light grey, not beige at all.
