Raw that looks great, you said it was quite pricey though?

Raw, I like the fit and I think the coat looks better buttoned.

So, I just got the grail (pic courtesy of Ochre), and I love them, but they are a bit too mega-turbo-destroyed for my taste, so I am thinking to do a bit of reconstruction. Specifically the knee slit bothers me, and I cannot fit a pair of long johns underneath, they are so perfectly tight. So, I am gong to put a patch of black matching fabric underneath. Also going to cut off the hanging parts that are most obvious (just in one-two places). Thoughts?

I think the more you make them your own, the better!

I think putting some kind of fabric behind the holes (that could be removed if you decided to sell them) is totally fine. I don't know about cutting off the hanging parts though...

With the hanging parts, maybe try just shortening them first instead of cutting the whole thing off. It can be annoying if it's too long but if you get it to a good length, I'm sure you will prefer that to none at all.

Use a razor when cutting the long bits so it doesn't create a blunt cut.

Rather than cutting the long bits, perhaps you could tie or knot them together. If you don't like it you can always then decide to take a razor to them.
This is what i did with my beloved julius shredded top, I was fed up with getting entangled every time I put my hand in my pocket!!

Yes, sir. Two episodes of the Wire and three patched up holes later using the extra fabric I cut off from the too-long legs, they are perfect.

There were three holes that I patched up by using the fabric that I cut off from the bottom of the legs. I think it came out well.

Faust, how did you overdye your Ann wool jacket? I was looking at the pictures earlier and to my ignorant eyes it looks like you took apart the wool and dyed and then re-sewed it or something along those lines...
