not sure if this has been mentioned already in this thread (or elsewhere) but Sunnn O))) returns in september with Earth, Pelican, and some other Southern Lord acts at the masonic temple in Fort Greene. I regretably missed their show in October at the knitting factory so i'm quite excited about this.. Anyone else here going?

Spanish armor/metal work at The National Gallery of Art, the exhibit is called "The Art of Power." Definitely worth seeing. Although, I found the "Tsars of the East" exhibit at the Sackler gallery more interesting/comprehensive.

that looks awesome, croatoan. I saw Tori play with Maher Shalal Hash Baz @ Shinjuku Jam last october. I was very surprised at how different it was from what I expected it to be. Absolutely love Blues du Jour and Osaka Bridge (w/ Bill Wells) but this was nothing like those recordings. All compositions were only a few phrases. Similar to the new double-cd release, but even shorter. Very few stretched over 10 seconds. In less than 2 hours, they probably played over 200 songs. It was cool though. My first time in Jam as well, I liked it.

Their first show in the U.S., with the Red Krayola down in California in 2003, was I think just over seventy songs. I love that their first live presentation to an American audience was this format.

The current MSHB tour is of shows going from the afternoon until evening, playing at least most of the new album. I saw their evening set at O-Nest the week before last, the first show of this format, and Tori told me that this performance was indeed the entire album.

Right now the after/night is running as..

                              mid-afternoon: MSHB
                              Band 2
                              Band 3
                              (intermission)
                              early evening: Band 3
                              Band 2
                              MSHB

I was invited to join them on the current tour but I had just finished taking classes and really needed to rest. Combined with the playing schedule, I don't think I would have been able to handle it.. haha

Invited to join them on tour as in playing with them or following along? Either way sounds cool, I didn't know you are close with the guy. Awesome.

The afternoon until evening set sounds like a great idea. Man I wish I was back in Tokyo.
