Couldn't find the old "New York" thread so here goes:

      William Basinski (Disintegration Loops)
performing live tonight at Other Music (record store)
      8pm FREE.
      I hear he's playing a new/unreleased piece.

I went to the James Siena show at Pace because I am friends with his ex-wife and I thought to myself "Oh, ok..."

The funniest part about was the two ladies in their 70's who were about 4ft tall looking at penis and vagina paintings, saying in their long island accents "Oh these are so funny!"

            ^ Isn't that on 4/6/11?

Some of what I'm doing this month:

The UnSound Festival New York has a fantastic line-up this year. I just saw Svarte Greiner and Paul Wirkus improvise a live set to Nosferatu.

Thurston Moore is curating at John Zorn's club, The Stone April 16-30

PJ Harvey live at Terminal 5 April 19 & 20

Kara Walker art openings at Sikkema Jenkins (cut paper) and Lehmann Maupin (video) on the 21st.

                Unsound Continued

Opening night was fun, the Pendrecki and Reich pieces were great (of course) but the Music for Solaris was kind of whatever.

I recommend checking out Emeralds at Le Poisson Rouge tomorrow and the Oceans of Noise / No Fun event at Littlefield on Saturday.

Well, for my town, the only thing going on is that we have NOT had any noticeable earthquakes for a week or so now.

                  So bored without them.

Continuing from the "Stranger's Reactions to your Clothes?" thread.
Mixmaster, personally I just prefer Zekka's buys and the larger range of labels they carry. They stock all my favourite labels like Julius, IS, Devoa, ma+, LUC, etc. EM have CCP and PH but I'm not really a fan of those. EM seems to buy a lot of leathers and outerwear pieces, which is good, but I find they don't get as many of the more basic pieces. EM is just a bit too niche for me.

I've had great transactions with both, but find I prefer my purchases from Zekka. They always have great service through e-mail and their sales are always great . EM rarely have sales and I find Zekka to be better price-wise.

                            NYC likes Kara.

Finally went to see Capa's Mexican Suitcase at ICP. Go before it closes on May 8th. And then when I got home I found out that the director of Restrepo was killed in Libiya. Uncanny and sad.

Elodie is my former composition teacher and one of those New York gems who has been consistently turning out great work around the Lower East Side for years and really deserves more attention. I hope some of you can make it!
