one of my recurring themes as an amateur photographer is recording decaying man-made industrial/agricultural/residential structures. I am painfully obsessed with man's impermanence, and feel that this sentiment can be seen strongly mirrored in the deterioration of our inherently temporary creations. I have countless pictures in a similar vein, but these in particular are taken at a very old grain elevator, so old that no roads lead to it, and is only accessed through a lengthy slog across a cornfield (in truth, I'm fortunate not to have a trespassing charge for the number of times I have visited said locale).

And no, AKANYC, I'm not Hannibal, although I do at times feel trapped at the bottom of a lengthy tunnel, the end of which is seemingly ever beyond my reach, but that probably doesn't make me any different than most humans.

I guess they do seem a bit creepy taken in abstraction, but I hope you guys like them...[:^)]

Considering I'm graduating in May with an econ masters and applying to jobs (in an area with a poor outlook given the economy), your words are very encouraging. I have hundreds and hundreds of photos of similar ilk to those just posted. I'll post a few more when I get back from my weekend in NY.

You guys make me happy. I love to travel and explore, and taking photos has always been a way of recording that, but recently it seems to have evolved into something more. All these photos were taken with a hand me down 3.2 MP Canon point and shoot from 5 or 6 years ago...so I definitely have a lot to learn when it comes to real photography. Given what I spend on clothing, I should probably invest in a better camera, but this one has been with me through thick and thin, and I would feel unfaithful to upgrade.

At this point, I'm simply rambling. Too much fine Italian red, one of my many vices...[83]
