Honestly I had a better steak at Ruths Chris than I did at Peter Luger (can't beat their lunch burger though). Strip house has great steaks, as AKA mentions, but my personal favorite is Minetta Tavern.

I gotta say, I don't think the Luger trash-talk is at all warranted. Granted, I haven't been there in a few years, but it's still one of the best steaks I have ever had (Carnevino in Vegas and a couple I have made myself being the others).

Also you can't even compare Ruth's Chris if you're looking for a real steak, they wet-age their beef rather than dry-aging.

i've eaten steak there three times and each outing was worse than the previous. the steak is fatty, greasy, and gross. the last time i went was for a work-related dinner and i just cut my losses in advance and ordered the salmon which also sucked.

If you are ordering filet at a steak house you are doing it wrong. Most useless and flavorless hunk of beef imaginable. But if that's your thing, I could see why you might not like Luger.

unless it's attached to a porterhouse... i was gonna say though, porterhouse or bone-in ribeye or nothing!

Prime Meats cote de boeuf in Brooklyn. Strip House, Minetta Tavern cote de boeuf, and Keens in the city.

Can anyone recommend a good steak house? Preferably in Brooklyn. It doesn't have to be super fancy with kobe meat and what not, just a good steak with fries.
