Interesting article provides some insight into the popularity of faux-vintage photography's prevalence and popularity in contemporary culture.

'High Fashion' what exactly does this term mean?

Last night my brother asked me if I was willing to spend so much money on clothes, why not spend it on high fashion (like LV, Gucci, Prada, etc.) instead of the stuff I buy. This made me wonder what the term high fashion actually means.

The Princeton dictionary defined it as 'trend-setting fashion', which would suggest that the mainstream labels listed above would be considered as high fashion based on celebrity and media trends.

However, to be 'trend-setting' do you not have to first create something new and be ahead of the current trends? In such a case, wouldn't labels such as Rick and Julius be more of 'high fashion' than the mainstream labels?

                  Or maybe...it's ALL high fashion?..

Of course RO and Julius are high fashion. IMO, more so than Gucci and Prada these days. I consider Gucci, in particular, almost to be mass produced stuff (for men) these days. Your brother needs a recalibration of his fashion sense.

Well you're a bit late haha. It's actually worth buying an iPhone just to play Angry Birds though it's so frustrating when I take 99999999999 attempts to pass some of the levels.

On a separate note, nice post count.

                          Yes yes, I'm very late!

And yes, I noticed my post count too. It was short lived. I did not want the mark of the beast upon me!

when the whole "arab spring" thing was taking off he had this insanely absurd rant where he was showing the whole middle east erupting in flames and people were soundtracking it to instrumental hip-hop. it was seriously crazy how awesome it sounded. wish i could find those sound clips again, surely someone here knows what about it and can find them.

edit: found it, i can't get enough of this
