You can be involved in the design process as much as you want unless your tattooist is a dick or your obsessed. But if you're asking these types of questions you may want to wait.
My question was not whether it is possible to be involved in the design process in general, but whether the people that posted their tattoos here actually took part in designing their tattoos (since the designs are mostly very abstract and there might be some deeper meaning/sense behind the motives).
I don't see how asking that should affect my personal decision to get a tattoo?

Can anyone recommend a tattooist in NY/LA who has a familiarity with pre-modern painting (specifically Bosch)? Everything i've seen so far just looks like Kinkade after a bad trip.
