Kill la Kill was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, who animated some of the crazier parts of FLCL. Shitloads of movement using minimal actual animation is his forté.

I started watching Fate/Zero because it's rated so highly...and I've found it to be extremely average. I felt exactly the same about Blue Lagoon.

I wanna go on a tirade but I really don't.

I find it the worst when certain animes are almost exactly the same as another but ever so slightly different. e.g. Trigun > Trinity Blood and Chobits - Elfen Lied.

Apparently Del Toro is supposed to make an HBO adaptation of Monster.

just finished watching Zankyou no Terror

        it's pretty damn good
the end felt rushed, you could tell that it was meant to be 12 episodes but they had to make it 11

still, a very good critique on the current japanese political climate

I have to super disagree with you, very poorly written, after episode 5 and the introduction of "five" i could barely stand to watch this filth

Anyone have any recommendations movie wise? Preferably something not affiliated with an anime series. Also, what's the deal with Soul Eater? Is that never going to continue with the original characters?

Some of these may be more obvious than others. I'm unsure what you're familiar with, but if you see something familiar, feel free to mentally cross it out.

Anything studio Ghibli, can't really go wrong.

Akira is the only one that was already on my list, thanks for the recommendations! And I'm pretty up to date with all Studio Ghibli work I believe. You are absolutely correct, the work that comes out of that studio is pretty great.

From the same manga creator of Tekkonkinkreet is the 12 episode series Ping-Pong the Animation, which is by far the best anime series I have seen in a loooong time.

How do people feel about the new 'Ghost in the Shell: Arise' series that is available on Netflix?
I watched the whole thing in one binge session. I was trying to find out online if they were going to make a season 2 but it doesn't appear they are.
I think it's really good. It feels almost like a prequel to the original GitS film. The animation is incredible and the music is really good, like borderline minimal techno good.

Anyone pay attention to Parasyte? The adaptation has been great so far. It rarely drags and its production quality is definitely on the higher end of the spectrum in comparison to most current series.
