I'd say xx sounds pretty indie. of course, the term itself is somewhat contentious as it often refers to something else then literally independent. I just use it to distinguish certain type of music from generic pop and rock

The way you use the term is the way it is almost generally used. Looking at it that way it is correct to describe them as Indie. Maybe I am too romantic and should accept the term as what it means today, not what it meant in the early and mid 80s.

By pure chance, I am listening to Daydream Nation for the very first time in its entire glory right now. Somehow I managed to avoid Sonic Youth until now.

Q, Rufus - Should be out in December. Adam and I have been working on this since August, digitizing tapes, 7"s...it's a really loose, fun, dirty mix. But we're both busy/lazy/anal and it's been delayed like crazy. I'm away for a residency for a month, but when I get back, we'll have it finished...

Q: Yeah - I saw the Jesus Lizard at Vice's halloween party, and there wasn't really any security, so people were free to go crazy. They're playing here at Irving, and I'm sure it'll be comparatively tame. I was originally gonna go home to Bawlmer to see em there - just cus kids down there are gonna be insane. Alas, I'll be away...at least I got to see them again...

Yeah - it's been a great fall for shows...Sunn, Fever Ray, Aluk Todolo, The Jesus Lizard...Also, caught the new ex-bird blobs band "CoCoNuts" by accident during CMJ and I was blown away. Their myspace page doesn't have any of the songs they did live tho, and sounds nothing like what they were like live. Sounded like a slower, heavier, dirgier, dumber and more psychedelic Birthday Party. Which means they were fucking awesome.
