i'm convinced the above is the greatest record ever made by an american band. pardon the hyperbole...

^ it's arguable, but I don't know if I'm gonna go there without some heavy back-up.

EDIT: FactMagazine - 20 Best: US hardcore - I'd say they do a pretty good job. (their other 20 Best features are good too.)

M83 - We Own the Sky

Perfect soundtrack to sitting up in spite of beeing dead tired, after a lazy day with rain outside.

                            Each shade of blue
                            Is kept in our eyes
                            Keep blowing and lighting
                            Because we own the sky

                            Secrets from the winds
                            Burnt stars crying

                            Soft soft or cruel
                            Can't we change our minds?
                            We kill what we build
                            Because we own the sky
                            Smile! It's the apocalypse

i like the list (and i think i have every record listed )
but it's a tad on the predictable side with a host of
"canonical" names. it's also missing a number of notable absentees; to wit - circle jerks, the necros, big boys, angry samoans,
just to name a few. understandably the list applies a very loose meaning of "hardcore" in order to capture a wider spectrum of what might be its history -- which in itself has a long-standing history of being hugely contested. and really, no one wants to be anally retentive about "hardcore" these days
                              but but... playing devil's advocate,
the boneheaded hardcore hc fan in me wants to come out and say
"meh, that list is a wee bit too "indie" for my liking"

btw, that negative approach ep is fucking killer.
