Might be an easy fix...you should check with your cobbler.

Did you get a rubber layer added on to the heel prior to wearing?
Cobbler might have pulled the nails out in the process, which could have compromised the integrity of the heel.
I make it a point to have him sand the heel and hammer the nails further instead of pulling them out
Regardless there is no point in contacting Augusta , Like awlouie said simple fix.

Same thing happened to both my pairs of Augusta's (and other shoes I have had in the past). Heal started separating from the sole. Just a tiny bit and not a big deal, you can glue it or better yet have another nail put in. Just a side note, its not so easy to, "find a good cobbler" anymore; So things that should be simple to fix are often not.

yes, i added rubber on the heel, but this was just recently.

cobbler says the glue has come undone on the heel portion. possibly old glue or whatever. this is minor and i opted to just fix it. but i still emailed augusta to make the problem known..

This looks amazing, linen over horse leather (from HLorenzo's blog)

How do this kind of boots age? Somehow a strange idea to use horse (that lasts forever and fades fantastically) and cover it with linen.

Isn't that the purpose: as weather and wear detrement the linen, the leather appears?

Leather and linen are my two favourite fabrics. Togeher they work nicely. Maurizio Altieri understood that, elaborated on bags and boots.

I had a pair of these a couple of seasons ago. Firstly the linen simone uses is extermely tough and hard-wearing, so in the 18m that i owned them, the linen was still 100% intact.
But I think MASUGNEN explains it perfectly regarding the breakdown of the linen over time.
On a personal note, I did sell mine because I wanted a pure leather boot and found the linen quiet uninspiring

Let's extrapolate on the relation between leather and linen. Are they similiar in aspect of wear gaining essence, that they are induced identity by use and age?

Funny, this is one designer thread where the shopping talk is fine, cause there isn't much room for the esthetic/philosophical talk.
