don't care for layer 0. too much of the same and it's being done better in other places. plus the rubberband derbies are ruined by the rubberband itself.

Layer 0 shearling = Faustian wet dream. And they are footwear is great. Don't see a reason to knock them.

i'll admit: i haven't seen the shearling. the shoes, well, if i'm knocking down that much on a pair they're either the original recipe or austrian.

I've never actually tried to wear or even hold a Rick oiled calf so I can't really say whether its 'better' or not. What I can say though is that my boris oiled lamb jacket is the most beloved piece I think (now that I'm still young and street!!) that I will have in a very long time! :)

I'm a bit late to the debate, but count me in as a Layer-0 supporter. I've got 3 pairs - rubberband derbies, 5 hole Guidi leather boots, and 7 hole canvas over leather boots, and they are the best footwear I own. That's among a collection that also includes / has included footwear by CDiem, m.a+, Guidi, etc. The quality is easily as good as any just mentioned, and I also find the artistic vision to be strong, with lots of personality, and not at all sterile. In contrast, I find m.a+ and Augusta to be more generic and to have a less interesting vision.

I wouldn't put it above C-diem though
I think is almost impossible to top carpe footwear

the structure, the simplicity and the elegant lines of the shape are almost impossible to beat...........was without question the best product category of all of Carpe offerings

Zamb, you're right - I wouldn't place Layer-0 above CDiem - but in terms of current footwear from Altieri's followers and associates, I would place Layer-0 at least equal to any. I also increasingly like the clothes too - Zero's AW11 leather jacket is amazing, and the canvas version is great too.
