bravo, ladies and gentlemen. that was sz at it's best. for once I'm so thrilled to have watched this one from the cheap seats.
the last major fight was iirc between Faust and I regarding the affliates. (and eternal I appreciated your observation about people here not being afraid to disagree with their friends)
well the affliates have affliated themselves to the affliated and sz is better for it.
from here it appears that this place might no longer be a boys club and we are experiencing more growing pains. with the exciting arrival of interest1, and a classic barn burner sparked by something so small and innocous as french manicured nails, one can only deduce that is harbinger of a new decade where this forum truly becomes gender balanced.
props to some perfectly timed comedy from casem, I blame the cat for hynotizing me into posting, and mike, whenever I see bosom buddies I think
I want to point out that Christian's post is the work of a true master. corridor as runway. genius! for the first time in years, the idea of sitting in a classroom

And this is what I see from the window :

One wonders where it will end, when everything has become gay.

very nice- I love the asymmetric hem. I deem this photo worthy of blowing up into poster form at kinko's. I need more access to blank white walls myself.

Maybe things are completely different in America, I don't know, this is just y interpretation of it from a rational point of view.

My personal taste is that french manicures just looks plain odd in general

PS: why not just yell "jello fight" next time two women disagree, it will save you typing time

                      This one's for you, Mona:

I had a meeting for work this morning to view Marc Jacob's '10 resort collection. The rep who was presenting the pieces was in head-to-toe MJ: Black turtleneck, a nubby wool tweed mini-skirt with big flecks of electric neon pink, yellow, & green running through it, black tights and grey ankle boots. Fine, whatever. When she held up the first piece, I nearly spit up my coffee when I noticed the one thing that just KILLED the entire outfit for me: RED fingernails! Gasp! I started laughing, remembering last night in all its glory.

I can basically see where Mona's coming from when she says nails factor into overall presentation and are fair game for criticism. I never posted a rebuttle to her opinion, so here it is:

I'm one of those people who also notice nails in relation to the 'whole look'. I notice everything. It's a finishing touch, like jewelry is. But here's the thing: for me, French nails are simply neutral; they are devoid of color and the look is clean–a notch up from having nothing on your nails. I don't see them as bourgeois or "fancy", nor do they register as commonplace or trendy. I've had a professional manicure only once in my life and didn't like it. I buy a box for 5 bucks and do them myself. Galia's comment about the view in her country of what a French manicure stands for is very interesting ("a symbol of provincialism and vulgarity"), and goes to show just how drastically a perception of something can vary from person to person, even country to country.

My personal "nail stereotype" is that I don't like seeing a woman with color nail polish on her fingers (toes, yes). There's something about it that I perceive as a lack of intelligence. Talk about sweeping generalization, right? This blanket perception of mine is on auto-pilot; be it realistic or absurd. If Mona's perception of french nails is similar to Galia's, then I totally get how her mind's eye registered a disconnect with my outfit. Last time I checked, skeletons wielding machetes weren't very provencial.

Anyway, that's the story morning glory. I'm still reeling at how something as tiny as a fingernail caused such a huge fuss on SZ. Fuckin' forum lit up like a Christmas tree.

Reminds me of some castration complex related mythological female monster.

                                Yeah, I'm easily impressed

Is saying this unrelated to an outfit's appreciation ? I don't think so. It is still all about what you decide to stress and what you don't.
Is this disrespectful to Interest1, or agressive ? This is certainly not my intention. I'm just saying that IMO this choice doesn't match her hand's morphology. Nothing more.
I'm getting you prescription eyeglasses for Christmas, Mr Moth.. LOL.. If you saw my hands in person, you'd be laughing with me. They're actually really bony, and the farthest things from "strong". A 7th-grader could beat me at arm-wrestling. I think it's just the angle the photo was taken. But that's "morphology" for ya...

p.s. You shouldn't be fantasizing about female monsters castrating you. You'll have some fucked up dreams tonight, mon ami! (that's the sword of castration, btw)
