Such confusion. So a hoody with a button up is hipster, while not the typical hipster look. But don't giving a shit about it do makes you a hipster again.

I consider hipsters people who intentionally wanna look like a bum or shabby or look careless, thoughtless and neglectful, but actually gave thought about it. Like they don't care but actually do care. Usually with very bright and clashing colours as well, Hipsters differ per country or region :)

Better to wear want you want, without limitations and rules of what garment can or cannot be worn together or be worn in a certain place or event. People on this forum wear skirts over trousers, bikerjackets with lace-up dress shoes etc. And I think the creativity to pick certain combinations which normally don't go together but as a whole look good is just what makes it good.
Maybe this is also an 'I don't give a fuck attitude' and considered hipster again.

The concept of a hipster is so ridiculous, but that's the entire point. It's a term thrown around as a catch-all phrase for a somewhat small (though infinitely diverse) selection of society. Making any sort of generalization about hipsters is nearly impossible and incredibly subjective. The vagueness of the term causes it to lose most value on my mind, but for whatever reason it has entered many individuals' lexicons as something to set them apart.

I get the feeling many of my friends and I are considered hipsters at my college. That said, I try not to think of myself as one. Not thinking of yourself as a hipster somehow immediately outs you as one. It's cyclical in a sense. My solution? Not worry about it. It seems that everyone knows what a hipster is, but they themselves never fall into said category.

I might write more when I'm at a computer.

The term has really become a generic blanket that people who dont follow fashion use to throw over anyone who dresses differantly. Its lost its root meaning IMO
