I know this is a little late, but that Mapplethorpe exhibit was a waste of time. Yeah, it's his earlier work, but it was so poorly presented (like an afterthought, or "it's Mapplethorpe, its going to sell tickets"). The Whitney could have done a much better job.

Dr Simon O'Sullivan, Dr Darren Ambrose, Margarita Gluzberg and Andrew Conio discuss how this entanglement has fashioned new ways of understanding painting and writing, producing ideas that have had an impact far beyond the domains of aesthetics and philosophy.
