But I am looking forward to their set with Kerridge (see above) at Berlin Atonal. The venue and sound are so fucking amazing.
Btw: Time for another Berlin Atonal act:

What's not industrial about it? It has the atmosphere of an industry all over it, just like Raime, even if technically they both don't sound like a "typical" industrial band. Not too far from Einstuerzende, though.
Totally missed your Kerridge post - but yes, that entire album is really something. I normally don't enjoy such extended sets of darkness and lack of melody, but Kerridge did something special there. It's not easy to make an album that sounds that dark work well. I think he's got the potential to do something really groundbreaking if he tones down the aggressiveness just a little and introduces some elements of space.
I wish I could be there at Atonal, that's for sure...

Don't get me wrong, I like some of Oakes stuff, but a lot of the contemporary so called "industrial techno" is simply too superficial to me. It's so fuckin designed. Dark drones, female voices, interception horns (braaaaa), tribal drums - to me it's just the shit for the post-goth kids. This is also true for Kerridge sometimes and this view doesn't matter on the dancefloor at all, because all that cliché stuff works great as functional music.
I simply miss the indeterminableness, ambivalence and reflection of the early English industrial scene. So, at home I like techno (or whatever) which seems more reflected and ambiguous to me. And I know, this classification is very subjective.

Aaand after all the blah-blah I should finish with a track:
"Das Getöse war absolut geworden, man hörte es nicht mehr."
