Just watched There Will Be Blood for the 3rd time (1st time this year) and have finally decided that this film has earned a spot in my top 10 movies. There is no doubt in my mind that it's a new American classic, and Daniel Day Lewis (also one of my favorite actors) is a savage beast making an absolute flawless performance in this masterpiece...... I want the blood.

Yes DDL is fantastic... another notable film from his catalogue is In the Name of the Father (1993)

Funny you should mention that one - someone told me about it this weekend, and I put it in my Netflix cue.

Paris is a beautiful movie, Klapisch captures the living-city better than any other director working today. I'd also recommend Chacun cherche son chat filmed entirely in the 11th, light-hearted and fanciful but with relevant commentary lingering underneath, much more honest than Amelie There are also a few characters introduced in that movie that recur in Paris.
