i saw 3 films (godard's notre musique, alonso's los muertos, kiarostami's five) that absolutely blew me away and often that kind of experience conditions the way you view the next film. i think i'll have to give it another viewing someday
I'm amazed you watched 4 films in one day to begin with! I've heard and read about Camel(s) but never got around to watching it..so its just on my massive to-watch list for now.
There's an Australian film Samson and Deliah which is I think a less "twee" kind of 3-iron. Not that they're very similar, there's more gritty realism to it.
I couldn't understand much of the trailer cause the accents are a bit difficult for me but it does look like something I'd want to see

don't think what they've done is possible today. you should check out a film called the mona lisa curse. that couple also features there.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.

Yeah, I'm sure, what the Vogels did isn't possible today to the same degree or scale, but just imagine what art all of us on here could buy if we weren't spending $2K on boots or jackets.

And rewatched the passion of Joan of arc for about the 10th time and it's still amazing.

for those of us interested in buying art, maybe a small print here and there by an emerging artist, yes.

Klang/Ace any more good korean films you guys would recommend ?

recently i watched spring summer ... and fell in love with it, i agree with 3 iron not such a fan it did feel a little too expecting at the end too idyllic. One korean film that didn't blow me away but i enjoyed was Goyangireul Butakhae; 'take care of my cat' its not mind blowing but quite honest and humble it seemed to touch a side of me i could relate to maybe because i had been in a similar situation and my gf is korean. But i enjoyed seeing Incheon as i know a few people form there.

also watched Ivan's childhood for the first time.
                          .

Jesus F. Christ.... No doubt some of you will love this...

                              "I Saw the Devil (2010) 143 min.
                              With Lee Byung-hun, Choi Min-sik, Jeon Gook-hwan.
This demented masterpiece was denied release for its graphic, “severely damaging” scenes of bloodletting and vengeance gone wild. When his beautiful fiancée is savagely dismembered by crazed killer Kyung-chul (Oldboy’s Choi), devastated government agent Soo-hyun (A Bittersweet Life’sLee) snaps, apprehending the killer and torturing him, but letting him escape with a tracker embedded in his skin. Uninterested in mere vengeance by homicide, Soo-hyun sets off a brutal game of cat and mouse, repeatedly capturing his prey to inflict pain and then releasing him. Graphic and gory, but damn gorgeous, too, Kim’s latest is one of the most well-shot and stylish thrillers of the year—a trenchant examination of revenge and the price it exacts on one’s soul. "
