there is a symbolic contextuality in the juxtaposition of the right and left site of the body and impregnation of the garment by bodily fluids on the side that is the opposite to the conventional one. ah, who the fuck knows...

Don't remember if this has been posted, but the Rick interview in 032C is worth reading.

That's another great interview by him. I love all his interviews. Particularly the explanation about choosing his male models...
"I imagine my male model as this translucent jellyfish of a man who is totally unfuckable.." amazing.

                  READ.

"I’m not very shy. I think shyness is a form of vanity that’s silly."

Only someone who admits to have taken steroids and works out religiously could admit to an opinion like this.

But I like his interviews as well.
I find them humorous, which I guess is what he's going for many times. There's no doubt he's very intelligent and thoughtful at times but he can definitely be, as he admitted, cliche as a 'fashion designer.'

The story of how he came to commission a bust of himself is, well, pretty revealing.

He almost comes across as this muscular, masculine version of Morrissey. Who seems to have gone for a slightly less illegal, less flamboyant version of Oscar Wilde. You know...the kind of person who quotes himself at dinner parties and justifies it philosophically when he contradicts himself.

But I much prefer that person to someone more serious and boring. He's interesting and articulate enough to pull it off.

It's always fascinating to compare the art with the artist and look for some kind of consistency when you're a fan of their work.
The work is, after all, ultimately what matters.

Yes, he definitely has Wildean traits. I love Rick's interviews too - and I always have fun interviewing him. He is as at ease with himself as a designer can get.

Life must indeed be good for Rick right now... he seems to be completely within his comfort zone with each collection and both the critics and the public are absolutely lapping it up.

Indeed. In every sense of time and place the man is at one of those very rare intersections where all the dots connect to a beaming center. Must be nice.

                              I think I have a boy crush!
Although , I do not agree that being shy is a form of vanity.
Shyness can come from a genuine want for privacy & not necessarily a fear of not being accepted or being insecure.

/\ indeed, it can. i think what rick is saying is something like that insecure people are often very self-centered, which could be seen as vain. but, yes, you can simply be shy.
